Arbuckle member of National Academies of Science panel evaluating agricultural data collection and reporting

J Arbuckle, associate professor of sociology, was part of a 15-person panel convened by the National Academy of Sciences to evaluate agricultural aata collection and reporting. The sole sociologist on the panel, Arbuckle assisted in the project aimed at helping inform the policies affecting the agricultural sector’s function. The report reviews current information and makes recommendations to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA’s) National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) and Economic Research Service (ERS) to help identify effective methods for collecting data and reporting information about American agriculture, given increased complexity and other changes in farm business structure in recent decades.
